Children’s ministry (birth to 5th grade) includes many facets and offers a variety of programs with one main purpose, which is to minister to each family by uplifting the name of Jesus in all our activities.
The activities are:
- Nazarene Summer Camp for Children will be held on July 11-15 at Camp Wesley Woods in Indianola, Iowa. Please see Heather Hoven, camp sponsor, for details.
- The OFCN’s Children’s Midweek Summer Schedule, Wacky Wednesday begins June 1, 2011 for children going into kindergarten through 6th grade. The timeframe is from 6:30 to 8:15 PM. Please check the church bulletin for the schedule.
- Living Epistles begins August 24, 2011. Living Epistles will involve crafts and a practice time with Koinonia, our children’s music department. Each week will include a Bible theme/story, character, and memory verse.
- Do you have a heart for children’s ministry? Please contact the church office or Betty Phillips.
- Who God is
- What has He done
- What does He require
As always our main purpose is to help your child to understand three basic important principals that everyone in the Kingdom must know:
If you have any questions please contact Betty Phillips, Children’s Director, at dbzst@msn.com or 515-447-7433. We are here to serve you and your family.
P.S. Our missions’ emphasis this year is about “Children in Need!”
We are asking that all children show up with pennies (not nickels, dimes, quarters or even large/small bills)….just pennies. We will watch them grow each week and participate in collecting funds for Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child (a ‘global Christmas gift exchange’ project). Did you know that from 1993 through 2008, some 69 million gift boxes have been handed out in more than 130 countries? What an exciting way to share the good news!
Logistics Beginning August 7th, 2011
Parents will drop off their children at one of two locations in the children’s department. If children stay for both activities 1 and 2, the department will transition between the activities. Please note the drop off spot below.
- Sunday School Hour Drop-off location: Children’s Auditorium (first double door on the right as you enter).
- Children’s Church – Drop off location: Activity Zone (e.g. Play Land)
Each child should be checked in with the playground monitor. At check-in, the Parent will be given a sticker for pick-up. Beginning August 7th all children should be picked up within 15 minutes after dismissal of the service. Please use the single door for pick-up from the Children’s Auditorium.
Each family will complete a registration card. Registration cards are located on a table just outside the main entrance to the Children’s Auditorium.
