Several Saturdays ago I loaded 3 of my kids in the car, threw in some fishing poles and snacks, and took off to meet another family at a large farm pond for a day of fishing. Many fish were caught! I would like to tell you that we caught fish on every cast, but that would be a fisherman’s tale. The reality is we casted our a lot more than caught. We caught a lot of fish…but only because we didn’t stop casting!
Mark 1:16-18
In Mark 1:16-18 , Jesus says to Simon and Andrew, ” come follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” Each of us have the same calling to follow Christ. Yet, each of us have a choice to say” count me in” or “I don’t want to.” If you make the choice to follow Christ, He will ask you to be a “Fisher of men.” Simply put, Jesus will ask you to share him through your testimony, your story, your experience with the living lord. Your story is unique. Your story can reach people that mine can’t. Your story when shared, is like a net that catches others for Jesus.
Remember we won’t always catch fish with every cast, nor have we been called to catch. ( catching is the holy spirits job) We have been called to cast! Don’t stop casting, dont stop sharing him! The fish will not always bite every cast. You will not catch fish every cast. Just keep casting, because they will get hungry eventually. The call to follow him is a call to fish. So how about getting some lines wet?
